This is a scam.

Their unsolicited call claims to be from a PC support company responding to reports of problems with your PC due to internet usage.
They want you to give them remote access to your PC to 'fix' it.

***SCAM*** The caller claimed to be ringing from Windows and it is their duty to inform me I have problems with my PC.
Explained that the reason my PC is running slow is because I use Social networks, buy products online and open pictures from the internet and thaI have malware viruses on my PC.
They use confidence tricks to make you believe they know things about you.
Somehow they knew my name and address, the rest was guess work by asking the these questions,
Do you use your PC for social media like facebook or you tube?
Do you buy products online?
Are you using Windows 7?
Are you using your Laptop or the desktop?
You need to realise they do not know what you do or have until you tell them.
Anyway I told them I need to check their story and to check out what they are saying, I asked for the return contact number, which they gave me, then they hung up.
They wasted my time but I wasted theirs and hopfully they have less time sucker someones else.

There are plenty of newspaper articles on this scam and lots more online.
I think is fair to say that Microsoft (Windows) do not care about you enough to call you to let you know you have a problem, they wait for you to report a problem.

The have just rung me as well.... Unfortunately my Mum got scammed like this  a few months back, so I knew that this sort of thing happens.... The weird thing is they knew the phone holders name, but the computer was registered under another name, so how could they know who it was that was using it... Hmm, very strange... Looking at this page, I'm glad that I didn't spend any more time on it... BTW, to the guy doing the "support call", at least take lessons in pronunciation, as having to ask you to repeat everything you say did get a little tedious!!!
