All messages I have seen on this site have been helpful for this number. I don't answer the home phone unless I know the number - saves a bit of angst when it is "pushy would-be scammers"!

Despite the countless times it has been said already, people who have signed up to the Do Not Call Register without knowing what it does need to be made aware that it has no power to identify, much less take action against, criminal scammers who are often calling from foreign countries and from numbers that appear to be Australian numbers but which do not exist. If only they could identify the scam callers from all over the world and put a stop the incessant calls, we might get a bit more peace. All we can hope for is that our telcos come up with a way of identifying and blocking these calls.

Calls from this number are clearly from scammers, who refuse to give up even when you've blocked the (non-existent) number. But on the subject of "knowing nothing" about animal shelters, I must point out that despite considerable improvement, in recent years, many thousands thousands - of the stray and surrendered dogs and cats that end up in shelters are euthanised every single year because there simply are not enough homes for them.

Caller: SCAMMERS Yet another scammer that the useless Australian government doesn't block from using internet indial to avoid being tracked. So long as Aus Gov doesn't force TELCOs from blocking internet indial, these scams will always continue to happen!!!

Caller: Shannon I feel I have fallen for this scam. I "donated" $50.00 but have yet to receive a promised receipt via email. Also quite pushy about me providing my birth date which I didn't give as it is not relevant. They say they use it as "my" password. Strange for a one off donation.

Caller: Animal rescue Something about donating money to save animals in shelter. I said if they're in shelter they don't saving, they're better off there than out on the street where I'll run over them. Honestly, these scammers haven't thought this one through, they obviously know nothing about animals in shelter.

Caller: Supposedly ‘Emily’ from a Pet Rescue Charity - VERY DODGY! She sounded Australian & I do donate to animal rescues at times so I listened at first but I wasn’t prepared to donate at the time & she was extremely pushy & wanted $50 to rescue 1 cat, $100 for 2 cats etc & sounded very scripted. I repeatedly said I wasn’t prepared to commit to anything right now & she just kept pushing so I cut her off & told her she is being so pushy that I am not interested at all now & hung up. Wonder if she will try again in a month like I had initially asked - if she does she can F@*# right off!!

Caller: Pet Rescue This is a recorded message - it's reasonably clever in that it has a prepared answer for 'is this a recording?' but you can get it to keep repeating itself if you try! I would not donate to a charity which uses this kind of technique

Caller: Idiots Three (failed) calls in a week. Presumably some kind of scam/spam/junk mob using automated calling system and thus unable to press required key to either leave a message or connect to my home line. I run a very simple home PBX system which means I only see these unsuccessful clowns in my log file and am spared from annoying non-human initiated time wasting calls.
