Said they would debit my account to the value of $299.99 if I didn't press 1.

get a recorded msg saying money was taken from your account,then gives you option to speak to operator to get refund.definate scam

Automated voice saying that money was debited from my account and to call the number if I wanted to cancel it

Caller: claimed to be ebay

automated call stated my credit card was to be debited and 'press 1' to discuss. Pressed 1 and went to Asian(?) accented answer and then hung up
