A txt message saying "Hi mum/dad my phone is broken this is my temporary phone number. Can you send me a message on whatsapp? Don't delete the old number I'll have it back." I messaged back asking who it was and got no response.

Scam about broken phone

Pretending to be one of my children stating their phone is broken. Asked me to message back on What's App as apparently SMS doesn't work well. Total scam definitely not one of my children.

Mum and Dad Whatsapp Scam. SMS says: 'Hi mum/dad, I broke y phone this is my temporary number, can you send me a message on What's app please? It's urgent SMS doesn't work very well with this phone.' If you message them on What's App they will say their your child and they need to borrow a sizeable sum of money as they have some bank issues but will pay it back in a day or so. Broken phone, temporary number, crappy SMS story is to convince you its your child without actually speaking to them on a call. They will want to borrow money as they have bank isssues and say they will repay in a day or so when the bank fixes to the problem. Don't transfer any money as you will never see it again because there is nothing your bank can do to help you.

Just received this today. Scam about broken phone. They should stop trying to steal money from people. It is totally disgusting
