How do we know that the comments above don't just come from the same scammer who sent the text message?

Caller: Coles Mastercard Fraud Service Got a text message from this number saying that they've temporarily blocked my card as they've noticed a suspicious transaction. I rang the number on the back of my credit card to check with Coles Mastercard and turned out the message is legit. If you get a text message from this number, don't ignore it, call the number on the back of your card to seek further information and get a replacement card.

Caller: Coles MC Security Fraud It was Coles MC Security Fraud checking on a suspicious transaction. I just had to reply via text, but to be on the safe side, I called Cole FS first. It was all legitimate & Coles Fraud department is doing its job

Caller: SMS from the above number & 2 phone calls from Sydney. Rang Coles directly & it was legitimate. In these days of relentless numbers of notifications about blocked services it is tempting to just keep deleting. This msg seemed possibly legit so I followed it up with calling Coles Financial service & discovered it was from them. So don't ignore all, but if in doubt about legitimacy call the institution yourself.

Caller: Coles My thoughts exactly. After reading above I was pretty sure legit as this was not the first message in my sms history from the same number. As Coles cc is part of NAB and I know NAB send out sms which are unidentified as NAB. They use a few numbers as I have looked into this before and actually blocked one number after getting such a message. It took ages a couple of years later to work out why I was not getting OTP for transactions. Anyway as this sms I got today also said I could call a number which is not the usual number to call as printed on the back of the card or when googling the Coles number to call I decided to call on the recognised number to explain the problem a sms creates when coming from an unknown mobile number rather than Identified as from NAB, as they can do by registering the number like Australia Post and other banks etc have done. She unblocked my card (I was trying to book a flight in Thai BHT instead of AUD as cheaper) and as Google was involved?? it triggered warning lights. I paid using a Bankwest c/c and had no problem, juts had to confirm with a OTP. She will again raise the issue of NAB sending sms out on unknown mobile numbers.

Caller: Coles Financial Services Text message from this number regarding credit card being temp blocked due to suspicious transaction. Was able to respond with a Y or N if transaction genuine. It was genuine text from Coles Financial and as I was doing multiple transactions at one site I totally support there contact and account monitoring as they did look sus. But the card was un-blocked very quickly. Told shop assistant who agreed with me that the service from the card provider was pretty good.

Caller: Coles Mastercard Fraud Service I received 2 text messages from them advising they had temporarily blocked my card because of a suspicious transaction, They requested that i text back Y or N to confirm or reject the transaction. they also phoned me from a different number. I called the number on the back of my card, and their Customer Service rep confirmed the message was valid. They then cancelled my card and reissued a new one. so if you see this number, it's from coles Fraud team, but to be safe, just call the number on the back of your card.
