Caller: Random middle aged woman Caller wanted to thank us for earlier in the year committing to advertising in the 'Volunteer Marina Resue' Magazine. We have never received a call about this, ever. We only advertise in our local area. I questioned her about this but had already gotten another call from a random guy claiming the same thing, but for a different magazine earlier in the week. I asked her several times who she was actually working for, kept saying the rescue magazine. There's no such thing. I asked where she was located, she said Brisbane and got quick snappy so I hung up and said I would report her and her number to the ACCC. Called the ACCC and reported it. They were aware of these types of scams.
These scammers are the scum of the earth and are actually Australian which makes them sound legit. I can understand why people get scammed.
