Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: “Microsoft Account Team”

Upon answering the phone the gentleman identified that he was calling from Microsoft Account team regarding a number of errors that have been showing up over the last couple of days from my PC.
I was asked if I wanted to fix this.
Ok, please go and turn on your PC, what do you see? (Dah! The desktop view)
Great now look at your keyboard, and at the bottom left hand corner, do you see the key with C T R & L?
Good, now what is the key next to it? (? Windows)
Ok, so you are going to press the windows key at the same time you press the letter R (for roger).
Now what do you see?......
..... well I wasn’t in front of the comp & I certainly wasn’t going to press the key selection he was requesting without confirming some details.
What do these keys do? What is the function you are instructing me to do?
Which Microsoft account are you getting these errors from ie which should I be logged into?
Ummmm sorry, do you use your PC for work or home?
Both, that is why I need to know which of my multiple Microsoft accounts are sending the error?
Just press the keys, please
Sorry sir, but it would be irrelevant to do so without being logged into the correct account.
It doesn’t matter, just press the window key and at the same time the letter R.
Sorry, but I don’t think this is a legitimate call from Microsoft; you haven’t identified me, you haven’t gone through any verification process and if this isn’t account related then it would be a PC issue not a software (Microsoft) issue so I think I am just a bit advanced for your simple scan call.
He hung up 🤔🥳🥳
