This number called me and as I answered they hung up. I rang back and an automated message asked me for my home number, I hung up immediately.

Scam about a free phone.

They called me too said exactly the same thing. Said I was a loyal customer of Optus, but I'm not even with Optus. When I asked him what I would need to give him to get a free phone, and he said my postal address. I wasn't going to give him a postal address over the phone. I'm assuming this is a scam.

They want to give you a "free phone" because we're connected with optus and we're "loyal customers." All I did was indulge in their scam for about a minute and said id love to know more can you explain it in depth, and just put them on hold, to push up the cost of their call.
