Caller: NBN scammer

Ii got a call from a man with an Indian accent from the NBN Technical Department about errors in my internet connection.

He stated that my NBN would be disconnected for the next 15 days as someone from overseas had hacked my internet connection and stolen my details.

I try to keep scammers like this on the phone as long as possible.
It annoys them and prevents them scamming someone else while they are trying to scam me.

They try to identify your computer OS by finding out the key next to the left ctrl key.
This way they can use their Window, Mac or Linux “script” to customise the remote hack for your computer.

I try to really confuse them and keep them on the line as long as possible to waste their time.
I told him there was a Red and White Ball (the Amiga Logo) next to the ctrl key.
He asked if it was Windows or Mac or Linux
Told him it was an Amiga X5000 computer running AmigaOS 4.1 (aka as Workbench).
Of course this also means their pre-prepared Mac, Windows, Linux speech is now worthless.

It fun to annoy them like this. You should try it.
If they want to know about the Amiga OS refer them to to www.a-eon.com.
If they ask where you get software from say www.amient.net and www.amiga.org,
Sometimes they ask for the name of your internet browser.
If they do say that you use a variation of Firefox as your internet browser.

He tried to get me to download some remote access software (from www.anydesk.com or www.teamviewer.com) to help them do the remote hack my system.
They use these programs to download viruses and or spyware to your computer or to simply steal your personal data for I.D. Theft.
SO NEVER DOWNLOAD ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO DOWNLOAD.
I told them that there were no versions of these software programs that would run on my Amiga.

He asked what phone I used I said that it was an old Android phone running Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
He asked me to download the android versions of any desk and team viewer onto the phone.
I said that both those programs are only compatible with Android 4.4 and up and would not work on my phone.

I got transferred to their supervisor and went through the whole thing again.
He also tried to get me to download Anydesk and team viewer to my computer and phone.
I again stated that they were not compatible.

He started to get desperate. I could tell that this pissed him off.

He then asked for my bank account balance so I told them it was none of their business and I would not tell them.
He kept demanding my account balance. He said that I could tell him as they had strict privacy rules.
Then he told me his “balance” was $5000 and that I could now tell him mine.
I asked him why he needed this information.
He said that the higher the balance the more protection against hackers he could offer me.
I kept refusing and eventually he really lost it.

His final statement was “it is your f*cking future I am talking about”.
I said that even so I would not give my bank account details under any circumstances.
He then hung up.

Managed to keep them online for about 27 mins before they gave up.
A new record for me.
