I have had a similar experience, I received a phone call from 'Statewise Emergency Response'...
Iselect online quote also didn't request a call was just investigating. I have received 3 calls from this number in the last hour - every time I picked up they hung up!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!!! 3 calls in 3 days
twice I picked up and was hung up on third time no voicemail left.

So tired of the same number coming up and not answering so hence blocking number OK i'm confused I just used the online quoting process with iSelect and now they have started to ring. Thats fine because I want car insurance and have no issues speaking with them for a change. So why the hell do they ring and then keep hanging up as soon as I answer. I have received 3 calls in 20min, this is a dumb service! Not to mention its annoying. Let's be honest, if you can't get a quote online without having to provide a phone number, don't use the online quote service.
The reality is, most online cost compare sites use the same rules and access the same insurers and will provide you similar outcomes.
If you found a service that offered exceptional value, you'd undeniably be so interested that you'd call them. Either that, or a follow up email from them would prompt you to enquire further, or take out a policy.
Let's be honest... being chased and annoyed til you answer a call because providing a phone number was the only way you could get the info you were after IS NOT 'clever marketing', it's gutter level SALES tactics, with the offices of these people populated to overflowing with desperate people who will do whatever they need to, within what the law allows, to get a sale.
'Clever' business with a 'proper' understanding of what constitutes real customer value DO NOT engage in these tactics.
Any insurance feral who'd like to take this discussion up on a major topic group inside LinkedIn can join any of the major marketing and business discussion groups and post a thread, seeking comment about how their company's practices are REALLY perceived by marketing professionals.
No surprise I've EVER seen any of these types venture into a professional forum and ask for comments about how they do business. They'd be crucified.
Meantime people, try any of the growing number of smart phone call manager/call blocker apps that let you block known nuisance numbers and anonymous callers and boot them straight to voicemail. You'll never even hear your phone ring!

In closing, remember that resellers of finance and insurance, as they have been from time immemorial, are bottom feeders. Treat them for what they are.
They've called many times during work hrs. Would be good if they left a message. I enquired online with iSelect about health insurance and was asked to put a mobile number. Now they keep harassing me with calls. I've had 7 in the last 3 hours. Won't be making that same mistake again. I enquired online with iSelect re: home loan information last week. I received the missed call today, no voice mail. Googled and came across this. Seems like it is a trend with iSelect getting your contact details? It's iSelect. I've received 4 missed calls in the last 30 minutes (no voice mail) plus one 'hang up' when I answered. I'm regretting enquiring about home loans with them now. It's too pushy/sales focused for my liking. If you need life insurance you will have to use a broker; it's unfortunate but that's how it works. I wanted AMP but simply it was a mega hassle to do it through them and easy to do it through iSelect. Them the breaks! i got a call from this number with them asking for me (which i verified 'speaking'). they told me they were calling from commbank and i told them i was busy (as i didn't believe them). i promptly hung up. It's MLC life insurance trying to sell life insurance this number started calling me when I used iselect this is harassment dont use brokers it is a life insurance company How do you block this number I keep getting calls (4 a day) from these people!
No message if unanswered and sometimes they just hang up if I pick up the phone
This number just called my mobile, rang once I didn't even have time to pick up.
I did ask iSelect for a quote last week, but would be nice to be given longer to answer.

How do I stop them calling me? They are clling all the time and there is on one there.... iSelect ringing me and calling the wrong number. Dave, I hope you get your life insurance sorted! just added to my blocked caller list! ringing everyday. I also didn't want any further info or calls from iselect
