I believe that it is automated profiling of your number. A computer rings your number many times at all hours of the day to determine when it is answered and when it isn't. This gives them an indication of the best time for someone to ring and have the phone answered. It avoids the expense (to them) of using people to call you when no-one is home or in the office. They hung up on me so I rang them back. They said it was Sensis on behalf of Google adwords. Half way through my comments the pig hung up. A week earlier I had already said no thank you & was also given the phone slam treatment.

They ring you and as soon as you pick up, they hang up.
I rang the number that was left on my phone and got the usual recording. One for this two for that. Still I don't see the point of them ringing and then hanging up. But then, they are stupid

This number constantly calls my mobile, several times in a row, at all hours of the day, without leaving a message. The one time I answered, there was no one at the other end. Now I just hang up as soon as I see this number. Does anyone know how I can block calls on an LG mobile???

They're at it again. Received call, dead air, hung up, Googled, found this place. Added the number to the auto-block list for my VOIP service.
