I'm getting them too. I read somewhere on this site that an idea is to pick up the phone, don't say anything, place the phone on the table and listen on speaker phone. I've tried it. Interesting hearing them talking to themselves. Not sure if it's worked yet but I think the number of calls is lessening.

I register these numbers on my call list and put a name in so that it tells me not to answer. Means that I do not even check what the number is if I have put in for example "Do not answer" as the name.

Had this number call many times now, they say someone at my number has had an accident in the last 2 years and they are from the accident claims department. I ask " who are you after and what name is accident listed under?" They usually hang up on me as I wont give them any details. SCAMMERS!

If you do end up doing the survey which I did a couple years back with in weeks you will then get calls from all the charities you say you may donate to even if its only a maybe. I had to keep saying please take me of your phone list to those charities. I now just hang up.

Heavy Asian (Indian ????) accent. Claimed to be from Telstra - and that my computer had been used to send scam e-mails. He'd show me how to fix the problem. "Just sit in front of your computer and give me control and I'll fix the problem for you".
Bad time - I'm eating my evening meal - call me back at 10:00 tomorrow my time.

Yeah ... that's likely to happen !!!!!!

I live on Phillip Island, keep getting calls from this number and either there's nobody there or I don't even get to the phone before the ringing stops. When I ring the number back there is an inaudible message by an Asian person about www.onecharity... (inaudible).com and one can leave a message, but the phone just goes beep beep beep beep and there is no possibility of leaving a message. I work at night and try to sleep during the day and it's unbelievably annoying.

Into, have had numerous calls from this number. Always silence. I just got a call tonight at 7.50pm. If the caller doesn't speak, why ring in the first place? I'm confused :(

Ever since I bought a new Uniden brand phone the calls started. So how did that happen??Up to 8 calls per day even up to 9.15pm. I've reported it to my phone carrier optus who weren't helpful. I've been on the Do not Call register since it started. Australian govt depts must do something to stop this invasion to our lives.

Same here. I have been getting phone calls from this number, on my home phone for a few weeks now, even on Saturdays. Never answered because I don't recognise the number. Then I thought about checking it on line just in case...fair enough here all of you are complaining about the same nuisance...apparently the Do Not Call Register doesn't work for this kind of call...what a pity!!!!!!!!!!

Usually have my phone off the hook to avoid these calls! My phone also shows this number as OVERSEAS. Unfortunately, I was having a coughing fit as I answered and didn't see this otherwise I wouldn't have answered! Something about a charities survey...I told them I wasn't interested and hung up

Claimed to be calling on behalf of Mycharitityserivies.com but refused to give name of person responsible for the call , just an email address so presumably they would also get my email address to add to their potential scammers data base.

I cannot work out why I am getting these calls until I read someone else's comment:

...... "voice biometric system" authentication used by Centrelink . Also when I think about it, also Taxation office uses voice authentication.

Anybody that answers perhaps well crafted questions to a person on the telephone that they do not know will probably be putting themselves at risk of identity theft.

My solution is simple. I use caller ID and don't answer any number I don't recognise.
