Recorded message from ATO

Threatening to arrest me on a recording
Called the number and asked them to tell me who I am they said I have to tell them to see who is representing me I refused they hung up when asked their name
Called back they blocked my number used wife’s phone same story and blocked her number

Caller: Scammer using ATO legal action threat

Received a call, as did an older workmate, who became quite worried. Appears the scammers may be getting shutdown or at least delayed, as calling back now has a “temporary service difficulty” stopping them from taking the call. ATO is aware of the scam, so maybe ACMA is taking action to close off their access to AU telephony.

Automated voice; lawsuits filed against me with ATO, had to call some number (did not note) immediately to avoid arrest and imprisonment: dramatic much? Please warn vulnerable loved ones about this.

This scamming organisation is also working out of New Zealand ,
I used a government phone to call back,and asked for corporate identification ?
They immediately hung up !
I called again and asked for identification and they again hung up !
When I did get through,the voice was distinctly foreign,spieled the verb about being the ATO ?

SCAM. Automated robotic male voice claimed to be from ATO and that I was under investigation for tax fraud. I hung up immediately. Confirmed that this is a scam number via ATO's 'Verify a scam' call line.
