What is the use of complaining, the DNC register is another useless Federal Govt. dept that does nothing except cost the taxpayer.

Last week they said that they were Telstra. The girl even knew my middle name. There were a couple of clues that let me know it wasn't genuine . She was Indian. She said she was updating my account when it had only been done a couple of months ago. She got aggressive when I said I was working and couldn't talk at the moment. Telstra will happily ring back if we are busy. Sick of the daily calls.

Can't the Ministry of Communications stop these people? They are damn annoying and wasting my time - I have to drop what I'm doing and pick up the phone almost daily!
I have blocked the number but they call using a different number all the time.
The ministry should fine the owner of the number/s heavily and even impose jail time if necessary and do whatever it takes to stop this nonsense.

This looks similar to my iiNet phone number who rings me to see if I am happy with their service. Time will tell if they ring again. I have already told iiNet that I believe their callers are linked with these scammers who call. Hopefully one day they will wake up. Oh I know it's them, I caught them out in the act. Same voice, same background noise as when I was talking to iiNet. Told them too and they hung up on me. Coincidence? Of course it is.

Do not be curious and leave your answering machine do the job for you. You could say ".. leave your message and phone number otherwise you're wasting your time" You'll have less and less calls. I used to answer the phone and get angry but now not anymore.... relax...it's payback time.

I get the (03) 8820 5472 call too. I return the call anticipating long-winded nonsense; and I get long-winded nonsense. I have written to my federal MP that the "Do not call" system is not good enough. In reply, I merely get the standard letter that invites me to make a "Do not call" application. I too have entered suspect nuisance numbers into my phone to alert me; but there are more of these than the phone can take.

Dodgy Indian telemarketer claiming to be from VETfee help offering financial assistance for tertiary training. Hung up on me when I asked how he got the number and said that we were on the Do Not Call list.

Absolutely NOT skillful scammer whatsoever - very long-winded introduction which started like this: "... my name is David from Solar solution, we are doing free assessment in your area..." as such, that could not be missed that he was a scammer.

They get away with calling because they are from overseas. Only Australian companies come within control of the DNC system. So unless you can establish they have links to an Australian company nothing can be done.
