Received a call from this phone number today. I answered the phone and said hello. No one responded. Said hello a second time. No response. I hung up. Tried to call the number back but the call is disconnected before I hear a ringback tone. I suspect the person calling is using CLI overstamping, which allows the person calling to display a different number from the number they are calling from. The Australian Communications and Media Agency has some great information about this on their website acma.gov.au/phone-number-scams

Caller: Smart Health Australia I've done a little research into this company. For a commission, Smart Health Australia raise money for organisations that only meet the ATO's criteria for being Not-For-Profit, therefore bypassing the Do Not Call rule for unsolicited residential contact. Since this company was working on behalf of several charities is the reason that they have so many phone numbers they are able to use to invade our privacy. I'm probably way off but I have been contacted by & I've also blocked 18 numbers that are registered to Smart Health Australia, but I am absolutely certain they have a large amount more. I've often wondered why they attempt to contact me so often & use a different number to call from each time & use a different charity each time. I've had the unfortunate luck of being struck down with respiratory failure twice, it's like having a heart attack but it was my lungs that were affected. Each time the ICU doctors in my local hospital deemed it essential for me to be flown down to a major hospital in Brisbane & I was flown down by the RACQ Careflight helicopter. Anyway the reason for this long winded story was that a little while after each time I was flown down to Brisbane in the RACQ Careflight helicopter, RACQ Careflight called. Each time they called my mother took the call & feeling quite grateful that RACQ Careflight were able to assist me, she bought what they were offering each time. Which brings me to my second point of being contacted so many times by so many different numbers. Once the company realise a residence has blocked a certain number, I think they have a computer program that either informs the employee to use a different line or it does it automatically & said program informs the employee who to say they are calling from. Smart Health Australia is a parasite that is practically impossible to get rid of is my experience.

Caller: A female voice who didn't identify any organisation 'She' asked for donations towards the supply of blankets and other necessary items for 'victims of domestic violence'. I asked 3 times exactly who the donation goes to and she gave scripted responses that didn't answer my question. I asked her to answer my direct question and she hung up. Reading the above, I'm thinking 'she' could have been pre-recorded responses. I called the number back and got an American accent voice recording saying no-one was able to answer my call.

Caller: Next Steps Australia Do not hand over your credit card information to this scam company. They called me and when I asked whether they were happy for me to research them and make the donation online via their website they hung up on me! I am also suspicious that even though I was having a conversation with a real person, I felt that it may actually have been a recording with someone pressing buttons for responses as the responses were not directly in response to my questions.

Caller: Lady collecting from Next Steps for Domestic Violence victims. The woman said she was working for a charity wanting donations for Victims of Domestic Violence. She was quite persuasive claiming one person died from domestic violence per week and that two other people prior to me had donated $100 each. So my donation would complete the $300 required to make a package for a woman and her children fleeing domestic violence. I told her I did not know of the charity but would consider any information she could send. She replied I will pass you over to my supervisor who can answer any more of your questions. Since it sounded suspicious I said goodbye and hung up. After some investigation I found that the organization "Next Steps Domestic Violence" does exist but the number associated with the call is not legitimate.
I am on a Do Not Call List like others but it doesn't seem to stop scammers.

No this number but (03) 8595 9840 called my landline yesterday and today, I ignored it. I get them on my mobile to recent more No ID caller or Private caller which I never answer, however I got a message from one saying missed call “Jay home. Stay safe” this is a message sent from Telstra. I phoned Telstra and they said not from them! The guy said unfortunately with technology as it is today these people can get around it! The international calls seem to have slowed down.

Caller: Next steps Australia Call the other day told them I was busy she wouldn’t listen to me. Went on and on about domestic violence and then demanded a donation. When I told her I could not afford to donate she told me in a not nice way to bugger off and hung up.
