Claims to be from Telstra about your internet being compromised

called me and once answered hung up

When I tried to call the number back, it was a disconnected number.

Report and block. Spam call obviously

Said they were from Telstra in Melbourne. Very bad connection. Tried to say there was an internet problem.

I declined the call

***BEWARE OF SCAM***

Call starts with a recorded message claiming to be the Visa fraud department, calling in respect of two transactions - one to ebay and one overseas. I don't have a Visa card.

I decided to play along, so I pressed 1 to speak a real person. "Peter Johnson" introduced himself and claimed to be from the "Visa and Mastercard" security department. Since that is absolute nonsense, I informed him that he was a dumb scammer.

I've received 3 calls today 1 hour apart from numbers (03) 7076 1311, 7076 1303, 7076 1304

Caller: Said his names was David

Scan said it was from Pay Pal

This number is almost identical to (03) 7076 1211 -a number that has been flagged as suspicious on this site - largely regarding Telstra or NBN service issues. Most likely scammers.

I was doing wee wees at the time, so I couldn't take the call live, and I am glad I didn't.

I would suggest avoiding this number.
