I have had 3 calls in the last week, from 'National Assistance" about tax rebates if I own property and am under 58. It may well be a property investing thing, however they should not be calling themselves 'National Assistance'. When I asked what type of National Assistance she evaded the question. It is very misleading as they are not linked with the government.

Fair dinkum Rob.

This mob:
* call people on the do no call register
* they don't display their phone number
* try to give the impression they are linked to the government when they are not
* have no phone number you can call them back on
* want personal information
* want to give free financial advice which involves buying a property they are selling

and you think people are wrong to be suspicious of them. They aren't nice guys. Now, I'm a nice guy, please post all your personal details here and I promise I will sell you a property I own (above market rates of course) and I won't charge you a cent for helping you out.

Gone through the process with these guys and had a guy come out to my home to chat with me. Didn't end up going through with any purchases but got some good info out of them.

Alot of you people don't seem to understand what a scam is. This place isnt a scam, scammers ask for money or some form of financial details that allow them to acquire money from you , without giving you anything.

These guys however are not that.

These guys are ultimately trying to sell you investment properties and specialize in finance related to property.

Before you start making things up so you can feel good about yourself because 'oh i uncovered the evil telemarketers evil plans i so clever hahahahahahaaha jokes on them' take a step back and realise you can actually get some really good free financial information out of these guys. They give it to you in the hopes you'll eventually buy an investment property.

All up pretty nice group as far as telemarketers go anyway.

Just had a call from Cassidy claiming to be from the "national assistance program". Showed up as from a private number & the usual accent. Did the usual put the phone on the bench & left him talking to himself. We are on the don't call register but it seems to make no difference to these people.

I got a call today private number, I asked a couple of questions answered a few myself ie age group and under 58, then I advised her I was a mortgage broker and that I considered what she was doing was cold calling which is against NCCP, responsible lending. She then became very defensive and told me I was acting against 'legislation' and she was hanging up on me, what a joke it was MY phone and she called me! this is 100% a scam

Just got a call from National Assistance Program, Jackie. Tried to claim they were affiliated with the government and was looking for homeowner under 58 years of age. Got her to admit they were not linked to the government, but persisted in trying to ask me for details. Watch out its a SCAM!!!

Scam - national assistance program - no such thing. Couldn't provide a website and wouldn't provide details of which government department they apparently are associated with

Call from Tia mobile number 0411 029 668, very talkative promoting National Assistance Program, could not give me a website, she became very defensive when asked questions about who she worked for. I suggest this is a scam.

Exactly the same call today - woman identified herself as "Julie" from the same "program", became increasingly evasive when pressed for details about the organisation she worked for (which I needed to report this call as a Do Not Call violation). She then told me I obviously wasn't interested, and hung up. SCAM ALERT!

Caller used a similar spiel - calling from free information service called the National Assistance Program. I would be eligible if I was a homeowner under 58years old (which I'm not) He then asked to check if I lived in the Castlemaine region. I asked where he got the details from, he said the 'database' which was from a government 'department. I pressed for details, he hung up. Tried calling back, number not connected.

Scam. Promoting something called the "National Assistance Program". The caller implied that this "Program" is government supported although when pressed admitted that it is not. The only web references to the "National Assistance Program" in Australia in the last year are to this website. The caller would not tell me who she worked for. The most she would say was that it was "a consortium of wealth creation companies". Under Australian law, telemarketers are required, on request, to tell you "the name and address of the organisation they represent" (see the ACCC website). If they won't then...straightaway...SCAM!
What kind of scam? The caller made vague references to a scheme that Paul Keating introduced in the 1980s to help people fund their retirement. I'm guessing this means the superannuation guarantee (although this was introduced in the early 90s) and that the "National Assistance Program" is a dodgy investment scheme for your super money. Maybe it's the land banking scheme that was splashed all over The Age a few days ago: hand over your hard-earned cash on the promise of buying rural land and getting big profits down the track, only to have everything disappear--no land, no money! If not this, then some other dodge. Avoid!

Just had a call and i shut this woman down fast. If there was a way around getting more money out of the government then my accountant would know about it.
