I also received a call 10mins ago and immediately checked this site. I certainly hope i have not been charged for receiving an automated message. Anyone receiving such calls should ignore them. Scams are on the rise.

Just received a call on my mobile from (02) 9379 8163 (On Boxing Day!) telling me I have 48 hours to claim my prize by calling their 1902 number which is charged at a high rate - but for no more than 12 minutes........ I always thought you had to be in it to win it, and I certainly hadn't, so I didn't bother.

Looks like they are still doing it.
Received a call today to ring 1902 XXXXXXX number
at about $5 per min call will take about 12 mins.

Did not call as appears to be a scam. If 1 million people ring and stay on the phone for 1 min you just gave them 5 million.

got a message from a missed call on my unlisted mobile today - Award that was assigned to you in last and you'll give away. You still have 48 hours left to claim. So please contact us ASAP to confirm your address details. Ok."
Thought it sounded odd -

The Hubbys mobile received a call today from the (02) 9379 8163 number claiming to be VIP Rewards Group. The message left advised he had won a prize and was to call a 1902...... within 48 hours to claim his prize. It was stated that the call would be charged at $5 a minute and that the phonecall would last approx 12 minutes. The Hubby didnt enter any competition and his number is private. If we have to pay $60 just to find out what the "prize" is they can stick it. Obviously its a scam ;)

I also rcd a message saying I had 48hrs to claim my reward which I ignored and immediately checked the number on this site. Confirmed to me that it was definitely a scam. Just who do you report these scammers to? It would be interesting to know if anything is actually done by the service providers to block these b@#st#%ds.

They are still sending out the same message - from the same number - except its now +xxxx6129379816 ... where xxxx are four random numbers , possibly designed to prevent the final 3 from being shown on your mobile phone call log - - might be good for their number to pop up on other spammers lists
