Caller: Blue Book Marketing

Just received a call from them on another number so the chance of them being legit is unlikely

Caller: "Blue Book Marketing"

Claimed to be from "Blue Book Marketing" in Sydney. Exactly like the phone scammers always do, it's a caller with an Indian accent and the first thing they said was "Hello is that <my first name>" without introducing themselves first, which is always a red flag for me. Any reputable firm calls and FIRST introduces who is calling and where from before they start asking questions about who I am. I only answered because for once it looked more like a correctly formatted STD landline number, they usually look almost but not quite right.
I mentioned I'm on the national do not call register and she apologised and ended the call, so it *might* be legit but decent firms based in AU know to check that register first. Because now I'm going to register a complaint with ACMA and if they get too many of those the company gets a hefty fine (they're big fines and they enforce them too, I've heard of half a million bucks to a big company).
Interesting though that this site does not know the number and does not list it as belonging to any known firm so I still think it's probably spoofed. I'll look into it and if I find anything for or against them I'll update this post
