They call, I answer, they hang-up. Very frustrating.

Not a smart move Paul, even though we'd all like to blow them up. Telemarketers record all their calls, with your phone number, and police can prove it by accessing your telco call records, going back two years now thanks to the government. These pests are selling Westpac products, which means you have a Westpac account. Suggest you close it, or if it is a mortgage, refinance, guaranteed you'll save a lot of money elsewhere if you shop around. Teach Westpac a lesson for harassing you.

I saved this number to my contacts six months ago when they first started harassing me (so I would know in future not to bother answering when they called). I told them dozens of times that I already had income protection insurance happy with and to please not call me again. Today my phone rings while I'm in a meeting and sure enough, it's them again. Every six months they try again, I'm completely fed up.

When this number calls it generally hangs up as soon as I answer. I've heard that sometimes that's part of the scam, because if you have a missed call most people tend to call back the number, and sometimes they charge you $5 to call them back. I reckon the best way to fight fire with fire is that if you ever get to speak to someone when they call on these numbers, just make a bomb threat...that'll stop them calling. I mean its not like the police can charge you if there is no record that you made the call to them. They are the ones calling you.

this number is very annoying! Everyday I get 2 phone calls, the 2nd being around 7pm.
The two times I managed to speak to someone, they were trying to sell me income protection, and they knew all my details.
The first time I told them NO, the 2nd time I told them that I told them NO the 1st time.
If they ring again, I will spit the dummy and call Westpac directly, threatening/promising to cancel all accounts with them immediately if I get one more call (and frankly, I don't give a damn if they sold my number on to a telemarketing company, as far as I'm concerned they can buy it back and make it stop!)

Just call the number in office hours and tell them to take you off or the ombudsman will be called.

I personally called Westpac myself and they confirmed that it was a scam call so make sure you hang up and don't give any details. The real bank don't do calls like these.

The reason they knew everything about you was because Westpac gave them your details in order to sell you Westpac insurance. I get calls from them and have noted them on my phone as a DO NOT ANSWER along with all other telemarketers etc. Most of these guys ringing to sell you stuff were given all your details from your bank, your insurance company, your memberships of any clubs etc. Every business sells your details to all and sundry and they on sell them to database operators.

I am disconnecting my phone and not getting a new one and not giving anyone a phone number - they write to me or email me.

I had a phone conversation with a guy from this number. claimed he worked for Westpac. wanted to sell me income protection. which is weird cause I have just made a income protection claim from a different insurer. This guy knew my address, occupation, full name, knew my account types and had the correct numbers on my debit card.
He claimed to send me out info via email and post. Since I didn't receive any I went into my branch to query. they told me it is not legit and Westpac don't sign customers up over the phone. I had my card cancelled straight away.
