Caller: Telstra Scam call. Got a robo call from a scammer. I try to keep them online to make them think they can scam me. If they are trying to scam me then they are not doing it to others.
However this scammer hung up after I pressed 1 to allow them to run their script at me.
Pressing 1 would have transferred me to a call centre so they can start their scam.
Here is a quick rundown of what I normally do.
Once at the call centre they would have gone through a script to identify my computer type by identifying the key to the right of the left control key (windows=windows OS, Option=Mac).
I normally tell them there is a big A as my computer is an Amiga X5000. This really throws them. They don't know what to do. When they tell me to download some software so they can control my computer (to remove the "virus" or fix the "hack") I tell them it is not compatible with my OS.
This drives them nuts. The calls usually go downhill from there. Longest I have kept them online is around 25 mins.
