Lost Pet Finders is legitimate pet service and is providing a valuable support to pet owners who have lost their pets. Perhaps people should do more research before posting this number as a scam. They have a legit website and a Facebook page with 12k+ likes.
The purpose of these calls is to provide a community service by helping lost pet owners alert people around them about their lost fur-baby. These calls are not commercial in nature and so they are permitted to call numbers on the ‘do not call’ register and they also provide people with an instant opt-out option in the call.
I have used their service in the past and if the need arises I will do do again in the future.

This number is lost pets in your area trying to help those in the community who have lost their loved pets. They are not trying to reach you for commercial gain.

I sought assistance from LostPetFinders last year (2018) when my dog went missing here in Victoria. They were of invaluable assistance to me at the time and are NOT a scam.
However, I have not ever received a phone call from them - only email contact. I hope they are one and the same.

Legitimate service that’s attempting to reunite lost pets with their owners. Have a Facebook page and website with clear evidence they help pets get home. They use automatic calls to let people in the area know to look out for a missing pet. Pretty sure it’s not a scam, I have friends who have used this service to find their lost dog

Lost pet finders calls are not commercial in nature. "Calls, emails or SMS that are not commercial—that is, they don’t offer, advertise or promote goods or services—are generally allowed. They are not required to comply with the obligations under the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 and the Spam Act 2003."

This is a legitimate service. www.lostpetfinders.com.au. It complies with the current call regulations. It is a national service which is why the calls come from a central line in Sydney. You can opt out of the calls by pressing 2 whilst it is playing.

Phoned saying there was a pet lost in our area - um, how do they know where I live? And it is a NSW number when we live in QLD. Most numbers to our land line are suspect!

repeated ring-twice-hangup calls this morning (4 so far, half an hour apart).
Anyhow it's one of those 028607**** numbers so wouldn't be calling them back...
