It is a scam. They keep calling for the hard sell. They use different numbers so you cannot block them or trace them. They say UK but want US dollars, even asked to purchase a gift card to make the transfer. THAT should be the alert, from the background noise of accent of other scammers the boiler room sounds like they are calling from Asia posing as UK.

Just answered a call from Wise Capital claiming that I had submitted my details via an online form wanting to know more about Bitcoin, online investments and international investments. When I advised the caller that I did not submit my details anywhere, he got annoyed with me asking me who would’ve submitted my details. He was rude, unprofessional and abrupt. I told him this and he kept having a whinge and raising his voice. I told him politely to remove my details from their mailing, email, and call list and if I hear from him again, I will be contacting consumer affairs. Again, more whinging. In the end, he wasn’t listening to me even though I was calm and polite. Until the end, I told him to f*ck off and told him he was a d*ckhead, hung up and blocked the number. Mannn it’s nearly Xmas, too busy for this scammer bullsh*t. Wishing them a sh*tty Christmas from the bottom of my heart.

First they said they were called Shawn Claire then gave me a coupon "v100" for their gold package. Thank god I didn't give them my bank details I only gave them a phone number. Then I was told they were going to teach me about the cryptocurrencies. I found out it was a scam after which I told them that I've changed my mind. They just won't leave me alone they would call from different phone numbers all starting with 02 8_*, * representing any odd change of numbers that they continually change when you manage to block the first one.

The call operators have been changing their "names" however they all sound the same and have the same thick Indian accent.

A simple solution to block all unwanted wisecapital scam calls (or any other scam calls), I've found this helpful. It's not an ad for anyone I just feel some people have had to change their phone numbers due to these people and I want to propose a solution that worked for me. I'm not sure about apple users, however for Android users you can go to the play store and download "call control" and install it. Open the app and in settings go to "block numbers" and choose the option of blocking a string of numbers or "wildcards" as they call them in the app. Then simply add those annoying scam calls with the country code (Australia is +61). So an annoying string of numbers with the Australian country code of +61 (02) 8-* or +61(02) 8??????? will represent any string of annoying calls starting from (02) 8000 0000 till (02) 8999 9999 . In settings set the default to automatically disconnect instead of going to voicemail and voila you're all set to go. I guarantee that you won't be hearing the likes of them again. This works for any other scam or robotic calls that have a habit of changing their numbers randomly every few calls. Hopefully I've been helpful to my fella Aussies. Have a great day everyone

Thanks for the info about blocking. I have been receiving up to six calls a day for about the last three months from both Sydney and UK numbers and have been blocking individual numbers. Mostly I just tell them not to call again and hang up. I almost feel sorry for the callers. They are different people every time and in their view they’re probably just being paid on commission to do a job. The company however should be prosecuted.

This company has called me numerous times a day to 'teach me about investments'. They call from numerous numbers that are supposedly located all around NSW.

The website says the company is in the UK, and there are warnings online about them. https://www.fca.org.uk/news/warnings/wise-capital-uk-clone-authorised-firm

Scammers!

When will the Australian Government work for the people that elected them and start dealing with spam/scam calls?

this is exactly the same, word for word which has happened to me as if they read it from a book. I want to nail them down to an address and I know the people responsible are in NSW. I did an ASIC search and they have changed their name 3 times but still canvas us under Wise Capital and that is unlawful AND FINES APPLY.

I've had enough and want to find them. If you google ASIC and search, the logical conclusion was CapitalWise and Danial Wise who may have had a sideline call centre in Lahore or India. ASIC lists CapitalWise PTY/LTD and WiseCapital as previous entities for ABN for Sambre Investments. In every forum Indians are becoming the snake oil peddling scourge now taking over from Nigeria.

Constant calls from a bunch of different (02) 8... numbers. I've been getting several calls a day from them. Claim to be "The Wise Capital" based in London and want to talk about financial investment including Bitcoin. Extremely frustrating and they are very rude, constantly talking over you and interrupting you when you politely ask them to stop calling. Absolutely no idea how they got my contact details.

Called multiple times. Hung up the first time. Hung up the second time. Even if you tell them to f*ck off and they hang up on you, they still keep calling after 8pm from random 02 8xxx xxxx numbers. I’m letting them go to voicemail now. They said they got my info “online”. As if anyone would do business a company that acts this way.

Yep, had the same problem. They just keep calling, even after I told them I'd lodge an official complaint with Fair Trading if they called me one more time (and they called me one more time), change their number all the time that always starts with an 02 8... The first few calls they tried to tell me that I had accounts with them for trading & I told them I did not & had never heard of them. They insisted I did so I told them again that I don't & hung up. I have a whistle. The next time they ring I am going to tell them I have something for them & then I'm going to blow it straight down the phone. See if that stops them!!!

Had many similar calls - blocked the numbers but now when some of them ring it comes up as private number. Surely the Communications Authority can do something about all these numbers they are using. We've had a couple of other companies contact us from overseas but their number comes up as an 02.. or 03...

I am getting the same as everyone else on here..
She told me to shut up today as I asked her to stop calling and take my number off the list. I have been getting these calls for months now and have had enough.

After telling them to F off after 6 calls, they now proceed to call me at least once day using a Sydney number and as I answer they hang up.

Always a slightly different number and even blocking them doesn't help.

These guys call about 15 times a day, I ask nicely for them not to call but they just keep telling me it must be someone else... Between them and the Telstra scammers my phone is out of service all the time..... my husband tries to call me but the phone is taken off the hook... this is a business line so we can't change it..... always the 02-8 numbersand I have blocked so many but they keep calling, surely our service providers could block any calls out of that building....
