Scammers claiming to be from the Australian Tax Office. Premise is that there has been a miscalculation and that legal papers have been issued against your name.
They ask if you want to resolve it or dispute it. I told them i would dispute it in court and they hung up.

A message was left on my answering machine. I could not make out who it was from as the first part of the message was cut off. I was advised to ring back straight away and talk to Jason Matthews or Officer Jennifer. Make sure to call back and resolve this matter now, otherwise I responsible for any further action that the ATO will be forced to take upon me.

I had exactly the same message word by word. I rang back and he eventually hung up on me after harassing me for some time.

I received same message as Ann Booth this morning. I called back and apparently spoke to Jason Matthews. He told me that the call was being recorded and gave me details of why I was being sued. He asked me if I had any questions. I told him that I had no idea who he was and that until I had something in writing I would not be giving him any information, at which point he hung up on me. Thank you everyone, who has taken the time to report this.

I have just had the same message left on my answerphone. Sounded quite threatening to me, said about serious consequences if I didn't phone back.
Left his name as Mark Brown, Badge number 469284 and to contact JAson Matthews or Officer Jennifer.

I answered the phone to this caller today and it is a recorded spiel as you can't answer them. I wish I had checked this site before I rang back. But ringing back confirmed that it was a scam as none of the Jason Matthews, Officer Jennifer or Mr Brown were available. Could I please call back in 20 minutes.. Not Likely

Got a message from a guy with American accent, hard to understand, claims if you don't call back you are responsible for further proceedings against you. As mentioned above, refers to Jason Matthews and Officer Jennifer. Thought it sounded like a scam and John has confirmed it.

Also got this call, the same as John McGrath. Very off putting for some people

Had much the same message as John received. Glad I got it as a message and not a call as it was vaguely threatening

Message left on my answering machine today by "Mark Brown". Identical to the one reported by Ann Booth on 28 October. I might have some fun with them if I get a further call.

I just rang the number and spoke with "Jason Matthews" and was told that I had defrauded the ATO and the Police were on their way to pick me up and charge me. When I asked for more info, "Jason" told me he could not discuss it and asked if I was at home or work (I didn't say where I was) and to stay there and the police would be there soon. He then rudely hung up on me.
Please be aware if you do ring them, they have caller ID on their phones so I would suggest you block your number before ringing.

Same message as Ann Booth recieved today at 2:55pm. I ignored it. Thank you to all who reported this.
