    Caller: Google?

After investigation I believe the number is legitimately associated with Google one way or another. The problem is that they are basically commission based telemarketers with an end goal of getting you to increase your ad-words spend. They are dishonest in the manner in which they attempt to get you on onboard, giving the impression that they are Google Ad-Words support, calling to assist you out of the goodness of their hearts, to help you get the best out of your adwords account ... without spending an extra cent. I call bullsh*t.

They are in fact from Google. I don't waste my time with them though because none of them speak clear English and it's virtually impossible to understand them.

    Caller: ITS NOT GOOGLE

I'm an AdWords manager for several companies. The number is linked to Google Adwords support as an inbound number, however they don't make calls from this number. Google has no record of the calls made is association with my clients accounts. Someone, somehow, is using the number as the call ID. It's NOT Google.

We blocked the Google number. Guess what? They now call with a blocked number (anonymous). Typical M.O of incessant spammers. They know we are not interested - yet they keep calling and trying to get people on the phone. Pathetic, disgraceful conduct for a company of Googles ilk. It's about time Google actually respected the wishes of their advertisers or the ACCC (or other relevant government body) started cracking down on them.

Exactly as everyone has advised, telemarketer claiming to call from Google. He had access to a director's phone number that are not listed in our Google Adwords accounts and wasn't able to explain how the number ended up in their database. He instructively asked me to login and go into our campaigns set up to start making changes to them. The method suggest these are scammers who attempts in manipulating decision without proper decision process. Disgraceful practice of sales / marketing. I do hope Google does something about protecting their customers from these practices.

The number being used belongs to Google but the call is not from Google Ads team. They are using a software to show that number on the Caller ID.

More AdWords call center spam calls. They never give up. Despite the account saying "do not market to me" - they still call every month without fail. They have now started trying different extensions in our office in the hope of getting hold of someone as reception refuses to put them through to "the head of marketing".

Caller: Google (But not really Google) just a third party increase profits for Google Caller

This is becoming more well known in the Industry. I manage a list of client Google Ad Accounts. The setting on these accounts are set to 'Private' which tells Google that we don't require assistance on these accounts. We still receive unsolicited calls and when we mention that our account is set to 'Private' they disappear.

Yes, these callers are giving you a few tips and how to improve your campaigns BUT... their main goal is to get yo to spend more $$$ and they are constantly calling other businesses doing the same which is just a constant cycle of everyone increasing spend to get in front of each other.... the only one that benefits is Google.

Great for Google's back pocket, not for their customers.

It's a real shame that this tactic has been pushed out to the world.

It's AdWords - but as the other poster said, they are basically telemarketers. They are there to help you spend more on AdWords. That's basically it - spend more. I have dealt with them many times over the years and not once have their suggestions made any difference whatsoever except to increase spend. I now block their calls and add the to my spam list as they are in my "time wasters" basket.

The sad thing is that they have very little knowledge of how the monopolistic Google AdWords really functions. It's a black box with a goal of making you spend more. You can be number 1 on Google organic results, yet AdWords can give you a poor quality score and charge you $50 per click because your domain is "not relevant" - despite being number 1 on organic search. It's a massive con job by Google. They have it over the world unfortunately.

Don't even get me started on the excessive amount of click-fraud that is dead obvious. Yet for all Googles "sophistication" they still charge you. Why on earth would they prevent it when they are the sole beneficiary of it? They are making far too much money off of dishonest practices. It's quite sad to see the world so utterly reliant on them. You can forget a startup coming along and challenging them. You need at least 10's of billions in infrastructure. Dear VC, please write me a $10 billion check so I can compete with the worlds largest monopoly....
