Pretended to be a Telstra technician, informing me to disconnect my internet - didn't bother to hear more after 30s (I'm not with Telstra).

If anyone is interested in this number, this is a known scam. The caller is testing to see if you pick up the phone for further scams in the future. No point calling back as the number doesn't exist and the scammer is phishing the phone number to your phone. Best way to deal with this is to block it from your phone or just hang up. The scammers use this information to target you in the future with Internet scams, IT scams and various other dodgy products. The scammers are also using IP VOIP services and if you trace it back you will see they lead back to India and such places. They generally use Skype to contact you.

Received a call yesterday, and today at 5:55am! Both times I answered and received dial tone. We are also on the Do Not Call service... wonder why they don't mask their number? Definitely flakey!

They have started up again. I am unable to call back as the number fails in skype and will not connect on a landline or mobile. I'm sure the number is a caller Id mask. 6 months ago similar thing but the id used happened to be my own mobile number. I would say this is an over ip auto dialler. they never leave a message on voice mail.

"As my number is on the Do NOT CALL register they are doing something illegal."

Not necessarily true - it depends on who they really are.

Asian mob who hang up if you say you have been called twice before (which I have). They are a scam that calls often and wants your details including personal info. They say they are 'checking' but ask personal (not business) info. Beware
