I can confirm this is an ATO scam. The ATO advises to hang up if you get a call from them. I made them swear at me.

Call claimed that "your name" was being investigated for tax fraud and were liable to arrest.

Same MO - the guy with a heavy voice claiming from the ATO. He alleging tax fraud etc. Demanded a response with menace and also threatened legal action if not responded to. this is a definite SCAM. The number used appears similar to be from SKYPE

Claims to be ATO and is extremely rude. Ignore and report to police.

I received a call too (02) 8103 2059 before I said hello the man started speaking..

Recorded message about tax avoidance said to be from ATO. Didn't make sense. We got similar one left on our work phone recently so obviously fraudulent.

SCAM claiming to be ATO with voice recording telling to call back this number.

I also just got called. They have a little bit of information about you, which makes it seem real. But then the consequences seems so harsh for an amount of $9k.
( arrest, publish your name in media, court, higher fees if you go to court, freeze bank accounts, they have authority to divert salary from your employer etc etc.)

That was what told me they were scamming....it was like I stole $10m

As above. Claiming to be from the ATO re: tax avoidance and fraud. Clearly a scam. Hang up!

We received two calls from this number today supposedly from the ATO and Alexander Lee. Very automated call and robot like. We didn't try calling the number back though. Just tried and got an message requesting to leave a message and then press the 'pound' key.

yeah i had same treatening calls in the past and again today, my accountant assured me it is a scam, as the taxation office will never contact taxpayers in this manner. Dont ring them, just ignore them
