I received a similar call a few hours ago from a Jazz Smith representing the Federal Magistrate Court in Sydney asking me to front up in court at 10:30am this Friday morning to answer to fraud charges brought up against me by CPR Global represented by a Mr James Hall.  When she had difficulty answering my probing questions, she passed the call to a Peter Grisham who stated the same thing but he was rude, aggressive & threatened me with defamation. After a lengthy call to Mr James Hall (02) 8007 4221) whereby I asked why wasn't I served a summons by registered mail and that I never had any telephone transaction with CPR Global and never gave them any banking details, he put me on hold & never rang back. He threatened that if I don't appear for the hearing I'll be arrested by the local police & extradited to Sydney & jailed without bail.  He also asked me if I needed his help as I was being sued for more than $6,000.  Maybe an out-of-court settlement?I went to my local police station to report this disturbing call and was told by the officer that it was a scam, and that I should ignore such future calls.A few minutes ago I received a call from a male Indian-sounding voice representing the local police station that two police officers would be coming to arrest me. I was asked to provide him my address! All these callers had Indian-sounding voices but with Anglicised names!Hope this helps!  Beware!

My wife got a call from this bloke too.  When I called "James Hall" it was quite obviously routed to India.  He said that my wife had been doing abusive nuissance phonecalls in Sydney and that certain ethnic people wanted to sue her for......I think it was $9600 or something like that.  By this stage I knew it was a hoax and I was politely probing for his details.  He didn't give away any.  Basically I said that we weren't going to be there for the court date (Sydney is 2000km away from us to start with) and that he was quite welcome to send through the papers to our address- which he won't have of course. It really grinds my gears because she is the most innocent, loving spirit and she didn't deserve this traumatic experience.Remember, if someone is going to sue you then you will be served with paperwork from a law firm and given a number of weeks and months to present yourself and prepare your defence.  Don't give any other details over the phone.  People who demand money through deception are evil and you can politely end the call any time you want without repercussion- CHAKLONKY!http://trace.meebby.com/mobile-number-starts-with-80069663.aspx

I had a call as well from an Indian who had my account details and said that I was due in court. I rang James Hall Solicitors, 'James Hall' answered directly and said he was very 'high-up' and that we owed $9,200 and that I was due in court today.

We will not contact you again in relation to your registration (unless you have number(s) registered with the Corporate TPS, where we will contact you annually by email to renew your subscription - this is still a free service). If you do receive a call from someone claiming to be from the TPS or a similar sounding organisation, asking for personal information or charging you for this service, our advice is to not pay or give them any personal details, it is most likely a scam. We are aware of a number of organisations that call from overseas, possibly India claiming to be TPS or affiliated with TPS or BT. They ask for your credit card details to complete a registration to stop unwanted calls. They often claim that you previously gave your permission for this call. This is a scam. Never give out your credit card details over the phone. Same deal as all above, started with a call from an Indian lady who said I was being sued by CTR Global and had to contact Mr James Hall on (02) 8091 4749. I must say this woman was persistent, she had rang two times before and my wife hung up on her. I rang Mr Hall and my call was answered by someone who said he was in a meeting and to call back in 15min. 10min later this guy rang back and said Mr hall was ready and he would have to put me on hold while he transferred me. Then I talked to Mr hall who stated all the things others have written and that I was due in magistrates court in two days in Sydney. I said that wouldn't happen as I lived in Melbourne and he said I would be arrested if I wasn't there. I then told him to send me all correspondence via registered mail and I would pass it on to my solicitor then he hung up on me. Oh, the woman who rang in the first place said they had sent me something (which they had not) and had not heard from my solicitor. I reported it to my local police and will be calling Scamwatch tomorrow to report it to them. Seems these people have been getting away with this for a long time, although he never had a chance to tell me how much I owed they obviously have scammed people to still be trying to pull it off. They knew my address and who I bank with...

Had exactly the same call re due in Sydney court  Thursday - from "James Hall Solicitors on behalf of CPI Global for the National Bank", but the number was (02) 8007 4221. We apparently had  contracted CPI Global services for a service and they had not been paid. The call was obviously from a call center, much background noise. I asked for Mr James Hall to call me back --- am still waiting!!!!
