Caller: Supposedly a collection agency for ATO

Left a message saying they were collectIng on an ATO debt and that I needed to call back before criminal files were initiated including a “warrant for my arrest”. Given I got a letter from a different a debt agency (Probe Collections) on behalf of ATO asking me to kindly file an overdue tax return 3 days before I think either Probe or the ATO have had their database information supplied to scammers.

Caller: Officer Paul Adams from the Australian Tax Office

I called the number back, after this guy left a voicemail message on my mobile. Rang spoke with the same guy who had left the original message, asked him why he was calling ? No real answer to that question and then I very quickly followed up with asking him ‘why do I feel like you are trying to scam me mate?’ His reply to that was to say ‘okay we’ll end this conversation here’. My reply was ‘ what a bloody good idea’!!
As far as I’m concerned it’s a SCAM
