Reveived a fraud call from this number. They mentioned they are from Austrailan Federal government regarding unclaimed money.

I too got this call but I didn't tell him anything he didn't already know. Creepy.Did anyone actually see any money & what is the purpose of this call???

A 'Chapleen' (woman with Indian accent) called saying she was with Federal Govenment asking me to call this number about an unclaimed large sum of money. Fraud?

Just received same call. He new all my details and asked if I wanted to be paid by cheque or into bank. I said cheque so I didn't have to give him bank details and give me time to check if it is a scam. You gotta be on your toes. I am going to call ato to report this scam as they are claiming to be from there when questioned.

This number has been reported to the police and is being used by a criminal syndicate trying to scam money out of unsuspecting people. Remember if the bank or any government institution has money owing to you they will send you a letter not randomly ring you. They will definately not ask you to supply money for fees to process any cheques.

Same thing received a call, wouldn't provide any info to them, then was told to call another number to confirm that there was a refund, she wanted more details and I told them to send me a letter - don't think we'll get a letter, all sound a bit dogdy

A call came through from Rebecca Brown (someone from the Australian Tax Office). She told me that the bank has made a few mistakes and that I will receive a $5,000 cheque. But before I do, I have to send them (through Western Union) 248 dollars. They will then give me the cheque through delivery. I smelt a rat and yes...Fraud.

Was given ref number and to call back 2 jan to lain money from government. Indian lady had my address just wanted date of birth . Is this a scam?

I received the same call today 29/11/12 & was told to call the above number & quote a code to his supervisor. I didn't tell him anything much and I won't be ringing back.

I too got this number from a man with an Indian accent who called saying he wanted to return money owed to me from overcharges made by my bank. That he was acting on behalf of the Federal Govt. He wanted me to give him personal details so that he could verify that the cheque would be sent to the right person and gave me this number for his supervisor when I said that I wasn't happy to give personal details over the phone.
