Recorded message telling me they were from Centrelink and they had been trying to reach me with several phone calls and by mail. As I had not responded, my file had been sent to Canberra. They gave me an Application number and the above phone number. The many redirections to contact Centrelink left me frustrated. I rang the police to inform them of the scam. I didn't ring the above number.

Received an automated phone call saying I had failed to respond to written correspondence regarding Centrelink payments and provided with an application number and this phone number. Phoned Centrelink, they have no idea and was told was a scam. I phoned the number and was requested to give my customer reference number or say I don't have one. When transferred to an Indian lady, I politely confronted her with the scam, she said she had no idea.... Then sharply hung up.

Last night at 1/8 at 8:00pm I received a call exactly the same as Wendy (July 27, 2016) above. This greatly concerned me. This morning I tried to contact Centrelink (usual number, not the supposedly Canberra number given to me over the phone) about it but, as usual, could not get through. After seeing the above post comment I am now certain it was a scam and was very relieved that nothing was wrong. Honestly, don't these people (scammers) have anything better to do with their time!!!
