Same message left on my machine telling me to call this number - tax evasion, fraud etc. I'm also glad I found your website

Yes I had a call from this number today. Called saying I was in serious trouble for tax evasion and fraud. The guy had an American accent requesting I call back immediately. Otherwise I was in serious trouble.

I too just received a scare this morning from the ATO only to find out it was a scam! Lucky I alerted my accountant and he was very helpful to discover that this was indeed a scam. Its the exact same number to call back and the caller never identified for whom the message was for. People out there, please take extra care!

They just rang my mother and using scare tactics saying she is being investigated for fraud etc and left this number, which i rang and then the man with the foreign accent identified himself as being from the ATO and said he would just pull up the details. Very dodgy. do not give out any personal information - targeting older australians by the sound of it.
