Checked the message left. I think it was computer generating voice saying some kind of legal prosecution

Just had similar message. The man called himself Jason Smith and talks so fast you know for sure its not real. Is there any point to reporting it or do you just ignore it?

Just like Tracey, there was a message on my answering machine 2 weeks ago from a man who called himself Alex from the ATO. He said to call urgently as I was being investigated for tax evasion and tax fraud. He stressed the urgency and said if I didn't respond immediately it would be passed on to the police and I could expect an arrest warrant. I have ignored this until now and have kept the message. Will give Consumer Protection a call tomorrow and pass on the details.

I've just had a similiar call and I'm not going to call them back. This is just not possible and I can hear someone laughing in the background. He puts on a stupid accent. Has anyone reported this number to the police?

I had a message on my answering machine saying it was the ATO, can I please ring this number, repeated twice. As there was an arrest warrant for me for Tax fraud. I rang the number and a Mark Brown anwered. Gave me his name staff id number and my case id number. Said I had been audited for the years 2000 - 2010 and I owed just under $10 000 in tax. I asked him how could this be , as 2000 - 2006 I wasnt working as I had a baby in 1999 and was home with hte kids until my youngest started school. He couldnt answer that.
