Received the same message. He won't answer your call unless you ring back on the line he rang. I got 2 calls within an hour of each other. This guy is really quick as the first number to ring back on was a NSW number and the second a Victorian number.

Jason O'connor called and stated we have a tax debt and we will be facing court after a warrant and a arrest will be made against me.

I've been receiving "threatening" calls from a Jason O'Connell person (with an Indian accent), saying that he is from the ATO and that I am to ring him immediately as an arrest warrant has been issued. I'm paying for my landline # to be silent, and to have these low-lives make such nuisance calls is a violation. I rang the "do-not-call" register & they could not assist. This # ought to be traced & these people caught. I feel sorry for the people such as the elderly and the intellectually disabled who could potentially be sucked in by these scum bags!

Scammer claiming to be from ATO, he asks for personal details and says you'll be arrested if you don't give them to him

just had the message left on answering machine we are being arrested due to tax evasion. - ATO does not leave long winded messages on the answer machine. no reference number etc. if I was evading the ATO at least now I have warning to pack n leave. bloody idiots.

I also got a call telling similar things. thanks to these comments I knew what it was. I called up the number and asked from where the person on the other side was speaking...guy got confused and after sometime said "Sydney", I asked him to give the complete address.....he didn't know(LOL) . I asked him why he had an "Indian accent", line went silent for some time and then started abusing(LOL).

I got this same call 2 mins back. thanks for the input. Can any action be taken against him?

My wife just received the same message from Mr O'Connor today. I had to laugh as she was playing the message over the phone to me.
I'll be ringing both ATO and Telstra for their awareness of this scam, and I'd encourage everybody else to do the same.

Some crap about the tax man who will put us in goal. Wants us to ring back. Yeah right!

This guy has called a couple of times. Says he is Jason O'Connor from the taxation department and that there is some sort of warrant out for our (mine or my husband - doesn't state) arrest and that we are to ring him before the local police are sent out. I believe this a a case of fraud.
