This is The Australian Disability Foundation flogging raffle tickets. I told them i do not buy raffle tickets based on my religious beliefs, (The Salvation Army has a non-gambling policy for members) so they switched tunes and asked me if i'd like to make a tax deductible donation instead, to which i replied that the only charity I support is The Salvation Army, any donation to them is tax deductible and we all know the good work that they do in the community.

This left the caller stumped and she wished me a Nice Day and a chirpy, cheery 'goodbye'.

I've found that this is the most polite way to dismiss these types of calls, and yes I really am a Salvation Army member and they really do support the concept of a non-gambling lifestyle. They also have the most favorable percentage rate of donation usage to administrative costs out of all the charities so it's a pretty tough argument to shoot down.

They are randomly calling people to try to buy their raffle tickets.

Smells like a scam to me.

You can enter them in your phone (mobile) as Ignore Telco or similar. Or simply Block This Caller.

I got suckered in ONCE. Im not buying any more tickets, You are on my block list of calls so stop ringing, the voicemails that you called and didn't leave a message really annoy the crap out of me.

I made the mistake of buying one of the raffle tickets some years ago and they rang me at least 3 times that year and every other year multiple times. My husband gave them my mobile number today thought it was someone I new because he said they seemed to know me really well. I will have to add them to the dont answer list. Very annoying

they shouldn't be able to get mobile numbers - is it random or are they able to get numbers from other charities, either way I don't want them on my mobile
