Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: Same

Called sometime between 18:00 and 19:30 on Sunday 5th March 2020.

They must have hung up within seconds of sending the call through, because my phone is NOT on silent, it was right next to me, and I didn't hear anything. No voicemail was left.

Others have reported this as apparently a female caller from the "Ministry of Health" NSW.

When I tried calling back it said "This number is not available".

This is almost certainly a scam. Probably a scam from a country that has government departments which begin with the title "Ministry".

China has seemingly appeared to recover from the coronavirus they negligently helped created. China are clearly not team-players and are the type of country who are willing to exploit any situation possible for their own selfish gain.

This was almost certainly a phishing scam call from a Chinese origin (most likely a Chinese government-sponsored attack).

It is time the world bombed Beijing.

Just received a call from this on my mobile asking for my son? When asked further info said 'it's a private matter". Would not provide details or advise who or what they wanted. Provided 1300 670 855 as contact number which does not connect. This is clearly as SCAM - DO NOT GIVE YOUR DETAILS.

This is the NSW Service department calling to check on our mandatory isolation. So it’s a genuine number.

Caller: Calling on behalf of the Department of Health

Spoke to a lady (Australian Accent) and she verified that I signed a declaration of isolation when returning back to Australia (which I had).

Only asked for my full name and confirmation of mobile number (which was provided on the form upon returning home). Asked if I was showing symptoms, if I needed a fact sheet from the Gov and if I am feeling okay.

Did not ask for any further personal information.

Hope this helps.

My wife received a call then about 2 hrs later I received a call. On behalf of Services NSW for Health Dept. Based on us recently returning from Overseas, they were checking that we were Self Isolating and we had no symptoms of the virus. This is not a scam No. and you can not call this number back.

Caller: health department/custom border presumably

They called my parents on the number that my parents provided when they fill in the isolation card after arriving back from overseas. They just make sure that my parents is okay and do not required medical check and manage to get some food and other neccessaty. The caller just confirm my parents name and then confirming the date they arrive back in Australia and told them that they need to be self isolation still up to 12 midnight after that 14 days.

Hope this assists.

So for now it is quite legit to be coming from government installation.
