ADR are a private debt collectors - Alternative Dispute Resolution
They pretend to be either a phone company or another nationally reconsider business to engage you in conversation and collect personal details which will enable them to proceed with court action such as being able to serve you with a statement of claim.

these are the most disgusting despicable dogs I have ever come across - I hope they rot in hell. After many many phone calls I have put a fortnightly payment plan in place. They still constantly phone me and harass me - It was new years day yesterday and the payment left my bank this morning - they have phoned me and said my payment was late and the whole harassment has started again. I explained I can't help a public holiday - you know what the guy said "People like ME should just shut up and pay our bills" I am angry as we are on catastrophic fire watch today and I want my phone line clear - they are harassing me over a bill I am paying how dare they!!!!!!!!!

I missed a call from this number and rang them they wouldn't say who they were and I asked what area they were in, she said Woolongong, She asked how I got the number and I told her I was returning a missed call. She asked my name I gave surname and she said they didn't have me on their data base for that number. I asked if they were from Vodaphone she said she couldn't tell me and hung up. The reason I asked if they were from Vodaphone is I had my IPhone stolen a year ago and reported it and shut the number down. About a month later I got a text from vodaphone saying my monthly bill was due. I rang them and asked how they got my number and they said it was given as the alternative number in the account. I told them I'd told them I'd never had a phone plan with vodaphone asked whose name the bill was in and they wouldn't tell me, I told them my phone had been stolen and this was an old phone I had to keep using. Vodaphone said they would contact the person on the phone plan and get them to correct their number details. I wonder if this is a debt collector chasing me for an unpaid debt that vodaphone allowed knowing the phone was stolen, I suspect the theif hasn't paid their vodaphone bill. What can I say clearly if a phone company allows a someone to have a phone plan for a stolen phone it's dumb to expect they will pay their bill and they can't rely in the rightful owner who was deprived of the phone to pay it for them when they refused to help prevent the wrongful debt.

To all those people saying so this is not a SCAM. Australian Debt Recoveries (ADR) buy outstanding debt from companies usual at a ridiculously cheap cost (ie 40cents each dollar owed), and harrass you for the full debt amount plus their additional fees and charges. They will have already listed debt on your credit file before the first call which stays there for 7 years. Every time they make official contact (hence the DOB for verification) it resets the 7 years. If you start making payments the 7 years starts after final payment. If you believe you don't owe money get a copy of your credit file and check it out. If you have proof of bill being paid and they have wrongfully placed the debt on your file you can get it removed. I am unfortunately not in the best financial position and have to deal with them calling every week wanting more money even though I have an agreement of $10 per fortnight with them and they know my position.

I keep getting calls from this mob and am asked my date of birth. The girl is terribly rude when I refuse to give her my DOB. I say "you called me - obviously you know who I am". Eventually after a few calls I told them to put information in writing and gave an email address. The email simply said call this number and give my date of birth. I replied to the email and gave them a gob-full - but not my DOB! These people are parasites!

Called me asking me if I knew the number for some courier company and when I said no they hung up. Didn't tell me who they were and wouldn't tell me what number they were after (which obviously wasn't mine!).

I ignored a call from this number earlier as I didn't recognise it. They left no message. In reading the comments here though, I'm guessing it's linked to a letter I received a week ago from ADR Debt Collectors saying that I owed Vodafone $752 and to pay ADR the outstanding money. Get out!! I am with Vodafone and did have a stupidly large bill in Oct 13 but I paid it and there is nothing currently outstanding to Vodafone. They can bugger off thanks! Even with a letter I am not dealing with these people! They obviously have my name, address and phone number. I wonder if they'll ask for my date of birth if i answer? Probably!!

They call me at least once a week asking for a random guy, they leave a reference and a text message soon after saying "this is not spam" "urgent". I don't answer because clearly my voicemail says I'm a different name. They all leave voice msgs and all have accents.

MY partner and I have been receiving calls from that number. They always ask for my day of birth to be able to continue with the call. I have always refused to give my personal info and advised all my family to do the same.
After few calls within the last week I did demand them to stop calling me but they said that the were going to keep me calling so I hang up, and called the police explained the situation and the answer was: "there's nothing we can do since they haven't stolen anything from you" so Police redirected me to SCAMwatch.com.au told the story again and a "Customer Careless" heard and said thanks

yes I have just experienced that. This lady is so rude on the phone, didn't even tell me what was her name and just keep asking for my date of birth in regarding to a very urgent debt issue. But she was with such a bad attitude, I just feel very strange about it.!!

Women argued that I must provide my date of birth then she would talk to me... Are you kidding, giving someone that you don't know your DOB, before they'll tell me who they are! I told them to send a letter if they were legit - 9 months later and no letter. Don't give you DOB over the phone to anyone, it's a key element in identity theft.
