You are not specially targeted unless you have previously talked to them. Their auto-dialler actually randomly calls many lines at a time. The clue is always a short pause (as they see your line has answered, and select it). This is followed by a burst of noise/chatter from the call centre operators, and an Indian accent claiming to be some Aussie-named person.
At that point I say nothing and quietly put the phone down without hanging up. This spoils their "successful" answer rate by wasting their time, and reduces the commission they are paid for hooking you. Hopefully this will persuade them to find another job!

Someone saying that they were Telstra and that there was problems with my internet. I told them that I wasn't with Telstra, then their story changed to 'the phone line that Telstra looks after'. I then asked what the issue was, and they said my line had been hacked. I hung up at that point...

Rang yesterday and never left message. I am getting rid of landline, every single call is a scam or private number. There is never a message left either, though sometimes you hear the call centre noise and Indian accents in background when someone (obviously new at the con) says, "hello, hello, hello ".

Man saying he was from Telstra asking if I was the ‘main user of the account’. I said “what account”? He said broadband.. I asked him how he knew that I have broadband and why he didn’t know my name on the account. He hung up on me abbrubtly when I questioned him. Total Scam.. feel sorry if people genuinely go along.

Claimed problem with my network connection needed to be fixed. directed me to Teamviewer site to download client software. Presumed intention was remote access and malware. Was very persistent. When challenged for verification offered computer ID (false, CLSID) and employee ID. I eventually hung up.

I received a phone call from this number. It was an Indian sounding gentleman saying "Telstra" several times. It sounded very much like he was calling from a call centre as there was a lot of background noise. I am a Telstra customer so I stayed on the line at this point.

He started to tell me about there being a problem with my Telstra internet connection and my computer and that's when I got suspicious, told him that I didn't have time for this call and hung up.
