I recently also bought a domain name. And scummy GoDaddy makes you pay more to hide your info from the public.
You are all experiencing a bot who calls to check if the number is active/valid. If you answer, it 'notes' on your profile to perform a callback, and you can expect an *actual* human to call back later in attempt to scam you.
This call was a probe, answering is the key to more spam later.
Do not put your personal email address or personal number on your profile when dealing with DNS/Domain Name registering.
went to mailbox. voicemail only had a 'ping' sound and then an automated voice saying 'good bye'. you answer but nobody ever speaks I think it is likely to be one of those numbers that charge you if you call them back. Its GoDaddy. Maybe you didnt get the premium package.. yeah i can confirm the godaddy comment. they steal your business name after trial and hold it ransom. they are scumdaddy Coincided with buying a domain name. Go Daddy really want you to pay for security now. Keep getting calls from these 02 numbers . Every time I do I tell them not to ring again but they still do . Will be reporting them to the authorities. If that doesn’t work taking matters into my hands ! This is because you were on a private number, it's a fake recording by their IVR.
If you had a number it'd store it and call you back later. This is common by scammers.
i received a call from this number and it went to a goodbye message after a few seconds. I tried to call the number back and it went to a not in service message. I too have registered a new website on line in the last few day and have been getting call about from mostly Indian web marking to build a web site. From experience there websites are awful and full of holes. if you don't take out a maintenance contract with them you may find your website hacked which may be a coincidence but i doubt it. not sure what number or company is this. but never leave message. dont bother I even don't know this sort of number exist. Thought it is a spam. Tried calling back to this number.
Caller would not identify who they were or where they were from.
sounded like some dodgy spammer. we hung up on them Only goes to voicemail and then hangs up They called offering to build a website for my domain that i purchased. I put my number (real number) on the whois detail not knowing the repercussions. An Indian lady was on the other line so this seems like a dodgy spamming number. I have received several calls from this number. Each time there is a ping sound and then an automated voice saying "good bye."
I would like to know why this sort of system exists. Where is the incentive to call you, be charged for that call and collect only the data that it is a real number that gets answered.
Is it sampling my voiceprint perhaps? Harvesting my voiceprint as a biometric to be used to hack an account of some kind? Waiting for me to answer and say my name so that when a telemarketer calls they can pretend to know me?
Nothing related specifically to me and nothing logical as far as I can tell.
What do they achieve by calling and hanging up??
It’s a mobile they ring not a landline they just rung me on.
I tried calling them back on a private number and was told that "the number you have called is not in service - please check the number and try again".
Weird because there was only 10 seconds between them calling me and me trying to call them back.
I called back number (02) 1136 4983 rang 2 times then goes to busy tone.
