I checked this site before answering any of the three calls I've received today (starting from before 9am).. I do have a Telstra account but no unpaid bills so yeah, I would agree with the others who have pointed out that the people on here saying it's a legitimate Telstra call are obviously part of the scam themselves.
Have blocked the number now.

If it feels like a scam, sounds like a scam, probably is one.

Robo voice claiming to be from Telstra "with an important message" for me, then asked me to press 1. No, I didn't press 1.

I'm 100% sure that if Telstra had anything so super-urgently important to tell me that they needed to phone me about it, they'd simply tell me, rather than ask me to "press 1".

I'm also 100% sure that, if Telstra called me, they'd be using one of their special five-digit customer service numbers, rather than a regular eight-digit landline number.

A call claiming to be from Telstra - I don’t have a Telstra account. It sounds legitimate but this is 100% a scam.

Absolutely disgusted that Telstra would call one of their customers with an auto call and quote their full name and year of birth. They then ask the customer to enter their day and month to verify their identity.

I does not get any dumber than that!

WAY TO GO TELSTRA! YOU ARE ENSURING YOUR PLACE PROFITS BEFORE PRIVACY!

Funny thing. I was on my home phone talking to telstra when I received a call on my prepaid phone by this number saying I owed & needed to give my card details. Also that my computer had been compromised by outside access and to give them my comps details.. & to pay more money to protect it.. I could see the big smiles on telstra’s end when they heard me saying…. A -I don’t have a computer & B- I’m actually on the phone talking to them right now. & C- my accounts in credit.. they hung up fast when I asked for employee identification number & call number. Telstra will never contact you by phone for such details. Iv chosen emails only. All telstra can do is stop the service number if it’s a telstra one. Not if it’s through other phone services & scammers change numbers more than they change underwear!!

I answered this number and it was a recorded message sounding like the Telstra lady voice. She said to please press 1. When I did, the call hung up. So, I'm assuming I'll get another scam call later since they now know that I answered!

this is recorded call from Telstra about bill payment. press 5, which is "I'm not the person responsible for this account" (true), but doesn't stop them from calling 3 times a day.

Why would anyone enter their date of birth into their phone in response to an automated system. If it is Telstra - try servicing your customers one on one with real people who actually speak english. I'm going to Optus.

Caller: Fake automated Telstra customer service call

I missed a call from ‭(02) 8070 2203‬ and when I called back it is an automated customer service call stating they are from Telstra.

Firstly it says ‘Welcome to Telstra, thanks for calling us back. Please press 1’ (doesn’t say why or for what, so I pressed #). Then says ‘Thanks, please hold while I retrieve your account information. **cue Telstra music** Thank you. I have an important message for ‘your name’ the Telstra telephone account holder. This is not a telemarketing message.

Secondly, it says ‘If you are ‘your name’ press 1, if they’re not available, press 3, or to hear more information about this automated call press 4.’

I believe if you press 2 it mentions something about sending a text message to the number they have on file, but did not press 2.

When you press 3 it says ‘Thanks. I can’t continue unless you’re the account holder, please ask ‘enter name’ or the person responsible for paying the account to contact Telstra on 1300 853 661. Thank you for your time today, goodbye’.

If you press 4 it says ‘this automated Telstra customer service call is being made because it’s important that we speak with the account holder urgently about an issue which may impact continuation of their service. To ensure the privacy of our customers account we will ask for information to be provided to confirm the account holders identity. Once confirmed the account holder will hear information specific to their account regarding why we have called.’

I did not press 1 as I didn’t want their algorithms to know it was me calling back and end up with more harrassmenr calls, but have blocked both numbers regardless.

This is 110% a scam call, just listening to the menu options gives it away.
