Scammer saying they are from visa but they are not, they try to get your visa no. Do not give it out

Got a call at 7 this morning, said he was from visa and wanted to verify a purchase that had been made on my account at 3am. on e-bay. I told him I didn't buy anything but I would ask my husband. He verified my name and address and asked me to check to make sure I had my visa. When that was done he told me it was a case of fraud and wanted me to verify my visa no. with him. I asked him to give me the nos. he had but he said he couldn't do that and if he did he would lose his job. I told him I would not give my nos. out and again he told me it was a case of fraud and would I please cooperate with him. After going back and forth a couple of times he hung up on me. I called the visa office and they said there weren't any charges, gave him the phone no. the guy called from, he check and said it was a scam. Here is the no. 940 7594745.
