REUT AVIRAN
EBAY & PAYPAL NIGERIAN SCAM: !!! CONFIRMED: BEWARE

The name REUT AVIRAN has forever my life, and that of my family. They are proven Ebay & Paypal Nigerian scam artists. I should know. We lost almost 5 grand to their scam.

We were new to Ebay and listed an expensive computer for sale. Received an immediate response from an ebay user listed as (reutaviran3), who had apparently purchased the item. At that stage, the purchase details were telling me it was an international buyer from Tel Aviv, Israel. Their scam was clever - I've should've seen it, but being new to Ebay & the complexities of the site, I was a novice, and wasn't yet familiar with what communications were genuine and what weren't. Shortly after me receiving notification of the intended sale, they fraudulently created and sent me an email from allegedly Paypal saying they had paid for the item via Paypal International, and that they were "holding" the funds for the purchaser until I sent them verification of the shipment tracking details. The email from Paypal looked genuine... but again.. I was caught out by being elderly, inexperienced, and way too trusting. I was worried when my paypal account was showing nothing at all & I queried this with the purchaser REUT AVIRAN. I immediately got a reply from the alleged Paypal company, firstly saying that the purchaser now wanted to shipment to go to an address in Lagos, Nigeria, and that because of strict rules that apply to that country, Paypal could not physically process the funds into my Paypal account until I sent Paypal the shipment verification details. Paypal said that once they had confirmed and verified my shipment information and tracking number that they would immediately put the finds into my account. Then, compounding their fraud, and to make doubly sure I sent the shipment, REUT AVIRAN then created and sent me a fraudulent email from, allegedly from Ebay, telling me I MUST ship the item or my ebay account will be suspended.

So I sent the shipment to the address supplied, and it cost me more the A$200 extra for the shipping costs. The buyer REUT AVIRAN had promised to send this extra amount to Paypal to cover these costs. How was I so stupid not to see the fraud. I mean its Nigeria for god's sake. I should have seen it.

As each day and week passed, there were literally dozens of excuses from Reut Aviran explaining to me why I still had not been paid. Everything from shipping delays, to extra security, ... you name it, they came up with it. I was sick with worry, and so distressed. I also had no insurance on the product.

The real "light-bulb" moment for me I guess was when I received a further email from Reut Aviran saying they needed "more money" as the product had allegedly been stuck in Nigerian customs and they were adamant they needed extra funds to clear it, or it would be allegedly "destroyed". Again Reut Aviran promised he had paid the additional expenses via Paypal to cover this, and all of these funds would be credited to me once the shipment had been delivered to the buyer. They even sent more fraudulent emails from Paypal stating they had received funds. So, my payment timeframe kept changing - starting with immediately upon verification of tracking number, to once shipment had been verified, to now.. not until buyer had delivery.

When I checked the tracking details with the shipping company, I discovered to my horror and distress that the shipment was still in transit.. and was, at that stage, not even close to Nigeria - let alone stuck in Nigerian Customs. I then immediately emailed Reut Aviran with this distressing information - & hey presto, another fraudulent email - this time, allegedly from Nigerian Customs. All looked authentic at the time... but looking at it now, in retrospect... a joke.

I was in panic. So distressed, crying all the time. I was madly in touch with Ebay (the genuine ebay) and after a short investigation they basically confirmed to me that it appeared evident that I had been scammed. They immediately permanently removed that ebay user from their site... but that really did nothing to solve my problem.

My pain was not yet over however. Because of the way Ebay works, the user also had my bank account details, and it wasn't long before my bank account was completely cleaned out. Everything I had... gone. What should have been a simple sale turned into a life-changing nightmare. I lost a very expensive computer, I lost the funds I should have received for the sale of that product, extra money in shipping costs, and still enduring a nightmare situation with my bank in appealing for the stolen funds back.

This person is clever. They have clearly done it before, and its obviously an MO (Mode of Operation) that has been successful for them in the past.

REUT AVIRAN - Always remember the name. Always beware.

If I can stop just one other person from becoming another victim at the hands of this scam artist, this report has been worthwhile.
