Quiz to qualify for a gift card, goes on and on, charged $90. If this is not yet unlawful it ought to be. Outrageous Woolworths!

This phone number is currnetly linked to an email scam regarding a giveaway promotion for Dan Murphy's. Following the email link takes you to a web page with Dan Murphy's branding that has this phone number. When you call it starts charging your phone account at about $3.50 per minute and up to $99. I hung up as soon as I heard this. I phoned Dan Murphy's who said if it didn't have a Dan Murphy's web address (danmurphys.com.au) its certainly a scam. The web address was murphys-giveaway.quiz-competition.com. It appears from previous comments that Telstra should know this is a scam organisation and they should have should shut this line down long ago. I am going to be pretty pissed at Telstra if I get slugged for this call

A local supermarket offered quite a valuable prize for a draw, which one qualified for by getting all answers correct in a general knowledge quiz. I clicked on the entry button and started answering the questions (every one correct!). Eventually, I noticed that the program was looping, so I became suspicious and closed it down. Only when I received my next Telstra bill, did I realise that the program had rung my landline from a 1902 number and run up a bill of over $90. I contacted my service provider Telstra, who referred the matter to an agency, who offered me a 50% rebate. as their analysis had assumed that I had initiated the call. I declined the offer. I returned to Telstra after a few years with other providers, still using the landline number I had received originally from Telstra. Apart from my concerns about the safety of their system, I am upset that they did not honour my original block on 1902 numbers or ask me if I needed such a block. This matter is still ongoing.

My telstra bill issued 18 sept 2017 showed 2 calls made 5 sept 11:21 am (22secs) and 11:22 am (25hours) for a total net amount $97. 966 which is more than 1/2 my total bill. I am going to deduct this amount from the bill total. Will be trying to contact testra.

I have received a phone bill from iprimus with a charge of $88.71 + GST for a call I did not make. I called a 1300 number to get a pin number for a competition and that was transferred to this 1900 number. I am going back to iprimus to seek a refund. Be in touch.

Telstra has this number 1902 228 173 listed on our bill for $97.00.
I don't believe I made the phone call, but here it is. It looks like the company is for Power Interactive Media.
obviously a scam.
How does telsta justify billing for them?

I also pay by auto recharge and had a rollover credit of $330.36 and have lost the lot in a matter of 9 days unbeknown to me.
This is soo wrong how telstra and charge us for these calls, I have google the various numbers and are "0" sec . We only use this phone for family and emergency and now I have no roll over credit. I will contact the onbudsman and see if I can get any resolve. pissed off with telstra for sure.

Hi K, Fell for same. Got same arrogant response from Vodafone. Do not pay for this part of your bill. Contact Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman and change provider. Block 1900 numbers on your phone.
