My laptop had virus alert and preventing me from accessing laptop, this number displayed on my screen to call for help, but am very suspicious.

Caller: I called them

My father was on his computer and suddenly got a full screen “warning” purporting to be from Microsoft saying windows locked due to suspicious activity and mouse was disabled. There was also very obnoxious sound repeating over and over again that “Microsoft says your computer is at risk, call this number” - clearly designed to cause panic in anyone h lucky enough to click on it.

Luckily I managed to navigate away from the page.

Later I called the number, there was silence and people talking in the background, then it went on mute, then someone with a thick Indian accent answered and said “thank you for calling microsoft”

Really awful scam

Caller: Said they are from Micro soft

Facebook message on Market Place: I also had the same alert saying my laptop had virus and preventing me from accessing laptop and warning not to shut down, this number displayed on my screen to call for help, I called but it dropped out, also tried to call Micro Soft on their number customer service....1800 624 449 no answer.... yes it is very suspicious. Turned off the internet and Wi-Fi straight away - run virus protection .

This scammer messaged me via Facebook messenger and purported to be from Microsoft and provided the numberabove to call. Scammer somehow knew my debit card number. Furtherto that I was bombarded by calls from various numbers - some from the UK. Beware od such scams and DO NOT respond to these messages.
