A pop up appeared on my parents’ computer claiming that “Windows Defender” had locked their computer to prevent hackers, and to call this number to release it. Of course the people on the other end of the phone were the hackers. DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER. WHEN THIS POP UP APPEARS CALL WINDOWS (OR OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM) TECHNICAL SUPPORT OR A FRIEND WHO KNOWS A LOT ABOUT IT AND ASK THEM FOR HELP.
