Caller: Paypal

I had an odd transaction on my SHOP account. There were few details apart from this number.

I called the number and it was answered as PayPal. This sounds like quite an elaborate scam. They had some information about me and details of previous PayPal transactions.

They asked for my credit card number and CCV.

The “PayPal” person ended up swearing at me when I refused.

Definately a scam. Like others have said here if you are targeted in this they likely have your PayPal account details, sign in to PayPal, log out of all devices and change your password.

Don’t give these people any of your details.

appears in an order in my shop.com.au account for a product i havent paid for but somehow shows up there

Caller: I called this number listed associated with a fraudulent transaction

SCAM - They pretend to be from Paypal. They will have some info regarding your personal details, they likely have your Paypal login.

They will ask for your credit card details - likely middle 8 digits of card (they will already have first and last four plus expiry date from your paypal account. They will then ask for your CCV number. DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS INFORMATION!!

Thos is quite a sophisticated scam.

You are likely calling them because you had a new transaction on your SHOP (Shopify) app and you've called them expecting to speak with the shop who the transaction was placed with only to have call answered by someone pretending to be Paypal.

Total scam. After reading these reviews I changed my password and logged out of PayPal and on the app. I blocked my number and tried to call their 1800 number for fun, it went straight to engaged. As soon as I unblocked my number they answered. “Eric” from a very busy call centre claiming he was from PayPal answered. When I said ‘I know you’re not Eric or from PayPal, you’re a scammer’ he got very defensive and shouted at me asking how I knew that. I laughed and told him to get a real job instead of scamming people - he hung up. Great result and a good laugh.

If you call the number they will say they are PayPal and want you to give them your full credit card number and CCV.

It’s likely they have access to your PayPal account. I suggest changing password and logging out of all devices ASAP!!

They are very convincing and had access to my Paypay purchases, if you give them your bank details please cancel you credit card ASAP
