I checked this number on the ANZ website and it is legitimate, however if you are unsure you can call the main ANZ Customer Remediation Specialist Team on 1800 245 416.

I was told to call this number about a possible remediation, but couldn’t find it on ANZ’s website. I called the number on their website and they confirmed they had sent the message to me, but that it was sent in error. Strangely, they also mentioned my phone number was linked to another account and asked for my verbal security code to find out more details about that anomaly, but I had no interest and hung up. If this is a scam it would be an extremely sophisticated one. I’m not sure what to think.

I called ANZ bank just now to verify this was one of their phone numbers. 1 800 268 829 is a number for their Customer Remediation Specialist Team.

This is a legitimate phone number provided by ANZ. I found this number on their web site in relation to text messages. It specifically said that this number is provided if you have been sent a remediation cheque in the mail which has not been cashed.

This is a legit number from ANZ - received a text and email from them confirming they sent me a refund cheque to my old address and it was returned to sender. Number is for the ANZ Remediation Team - very helpful - details about the refunds can be found on their website.

Message was (|We sent you a cheque on (Date almost two years back on account I just closed out) it bounced back to us we need to verify address, amount was $70+.
I work in IT, called them, got through too quickly and as I don't know the details apart from the ref which looked odd I was asked for name and DOB; asked them to wait while I did a quick check on the number online, guy rattled off some other legit numbers, the online one was different but I understand they have many numbers, guy seemed used to/fine with it.

Thanked the guy, called an ANZ number, got transferred (Called home loan not Personal) and it was legit. Odd as they just paid me my over payment, I assumed that included everything.

TLDR; SEEMS LEGIT VIA TEXT BUT WOULD STILL CALL ONLINE NUMBERS BEFORE GIVING OUT ANY DETAILS.

Yep got the same today, any of you customers or ex customers of Optus? This has picked up for me lately.

Received an email about a cheque that was not cashed. It had this phone number on it but I called the bank via the number on their website instead.
Customer Remediation Specialist Team is apparently a real thing with a couple of different numbers including this one. However I'd still recommend you contact the bank directly yourself and not call any numbers from emails/texts/etc.
