I just received a letter in the mail with the ANZ logo on the envelope. The enclosed one (1) page document was color printed and professional in its appearance. The correspondence alluded to a returned payment to my account, with this phone number attached. Having had my details compromised in the Latitude Finance hack, there is an uneasy feeling that scammers are now trying their skills.....

I received a text message to say my card number quoted (not actually my card!) had been debited with 50 Phillippine peso (PHP). They said to call that number and also quoted a ref number which was a link. Needless to say i didn't click on it!

Caller: Fake ANZ

Real looking ANZ SMS going around sending OTP for online transactions of debit/cred card used says if not you to call 133350. Whilst the SMS comes through from ANZ and the phone number is real these SMS are in fact scam. If you get one of these and log straight into your internet banking you will see no transaction has taken place in which text claims. Been happening for awhile then using real ANZ mobile number.

They use the actual service number in conjunction with a link because the fact that the number is real reassures people and then many of them will choose to avoid a perceived wait-time on the phone and just do it online - and thats when they click the phishing link.

Anyone who calls the number instead of clicking the link is just a factored-in loss of the play. And as there may be twice as many who click the link as there are who make the call, its a loss they will generally be happy to take in exchange for the appearance of authenticity.

Getting the following SMS on my office mobile number where I never use for my banking info.

From ANZ: Your home/work number has been changed. If you didn't make this change, please call us on 13 33 50

By why they actually use the actual ANZ customer service number 13 33 50?

There were some security issue with my ANZ online banking or my mobile carrier Vodafone, i logged on my ANZ online account (credit card) on 8 March, 2021 around 15:00 - 16:00 and changed the log on password , but I did not get a " confirmation message of change of password" SMS from ANZ ........not until twenty something hours later.....that was the next day - 9 March, 2021, the mid day at 12:11, and asked me call 13 33 50 if i did not make this change, what good does this message do now ? I remembered that i changed my detail, my email, my password on 3 February 2021, three separate confirmation SMS were sent to me within 10 seconds as soon as i completed changes online, may be it was a technical isssue on my mobile carrier "Vodafone", or both companies ANZ and Vodafone have different issuess. I did not want to post this, but I found this issue was quite serious, because this happened in the business hours, and considering the public interest - everyone now are doing a lot of online transcations either at home or at work.

They send you emails and SMS to call this number as "your ANZ Internet Banking Account has been suspended due to suspicious activity."

We confirmed it with the ANZ Fraud team.

Got an e-mail saying my Suncorp internet banking was frozen & the call the 133350 number. suspected it was a scam, and the other comments have confirmed this. Apparently it used to be a ANZ scam, but the scammers have switched banks?
