Keeps ringing on a private number and demanding for personal information. Does not explain what their matter is about. I will not give personal information to a rude stranger.

just try to setup my NBN and found that my personal credit check has been declined by this company. followed through their website and found out AGL lodged a default listing again my name. Called AGL and they told me that they have mixed up somebody else similar to my name ? what is Fxxx going on there ? eventually the told me that it would take weeks to clear my name, and meantime I could not go through NBN . Welcome to Australia !

Got a phone call from SIMILAR number ("1300 003 894"). Call lasted 23 minutes - read on. Person asked me to confirm I was a name they had - it wasn't me. Took 5 minutes to get their first name out of them ("Deepa" she said) and their rough address (St. Kilda Rd). Person said she didn't know the full address even though she was there in the building on "St Kilda Rd". I asked to speak to a supervisor - she told me one wasn't available and that I'd have to go to a website. Told her I'd hold and forced her to put me on to someone else I'd call the AFP. Spoke to supposed supervisor - same problem getting name but then he told me his name ("Abeer" he said). Gave me a lot of run around - i.e. he told me he couldn't tell me what they do there except work for banks, telco's, and utilities. Asked him why the banks, telco's, utilities, etc didn't phone their clients directly (as they all and always do) and he told me he didn't know. Asked him if he could tell me about the supposed business he works for because I may want to become one of their clients - he told me he didn't know. Asked him to transfer me to someone who does and he said he didn't have any phone numbers or know anyone who could help me - told me to go to a website again. Really pressured him to tell me only ONE thing his supposed employer did - he said "data analytics". Looked at the website he gave me and "data analytics" was NOT a service provided by his supposed employer. Told him he lied to me and said he was a scammer. Asked him waht data analytics system they used - he didn't know. He gave me his "employee ID number" ("CT7" he said) and a post box address ("PO Box 7405, St Kilda Rd, 3004" he said verbatim). Told him no employee ID's are 3 digits long (honestly, they aren't when in a call centre), and that the PO Box address could be set up for this scam, and that his employees (and himself) didn't even know the address at which they have to come to work even though they are there speaking to me right now (i.e. at the time). Guy ended up flabbergasted and tried to get off the phone. Kept him on for a few minutes more and told him that I'd recorded the whole phone call, will transfer it to mp3, and upload to Youtube - which I've done. Told him not to call my phone number again or Qld Police, AFP, Telecoms Ombudsman would be involved (for sure), and that I was amazed at how far their scamming set-up went (i.e. website, supposed "employee ID number", supposed PO Box address, etc). He eventually backed down and said he'd remove my phone number from their "database" (God knows how if he doesn't know much else) and never call it again. Told him I'm sick of scam callers (he NEVER once denied it being a scam or defended it), wished him good luck with the scam and told him to expect a lot more responses from people like mine. All info I got from him is detailed in here, so ask the same questions if you get a call from this number (or similar). Ultimately, I don't know if it's a scam or not, but they phoned the wrong person when they spoke to me. NOTE: RECORD THESE CALLS IF YOU CAN AND LOAD THEM TO YOUTUBE. GET AS MUCH INFO OUT OF THEM AS POSSIBLE. IT REALLY CAN HELP THE POLICE AND AUSTRALIAN AUTHORITIES.
