There are scams there, but:
132300 is a Centrelink number.
They sometimes call from an anonymous number if you r in middle of some discussion, BUT you always get an SMS about an hour or two beforehand advising you that they will call.
I have had this twice, while I was in middle of some changes. Not out of the blue.No email was sent in this case.
Be sure to answer the call within a few seconds, otherwise they mark it as 'no answer' and you go to back of queue.

2nd Message received on my phone: "Reminder: you have an appointment with Centrelink Sunbury, on 10/7/2024 at 10.45 am. To reschedule call 132300. Do not reply by SMS."
First problem here is, I don't have anything to do with Centrelink, and don't receive Centrelink payments of any kind. Secondly, I live in South Australia. Can't block these messages coming via my phone because all there is to go on is the word 'Centrelink', so it comes up as an invalid number. My concern is not that it comes from an unknown scammer (you can usually block those numbers and/or keep away from hyperlinks), but that it comes from the biggest perpetrator in Australia which is Centrelink. Remembering all the victims of Robodebt. The first message received concerned electronic messaging which is the last thing I want from Centrelink, but it seems to be legitimate when I look at the Services Australia website, and the onus seems to be on me to go to all the trouble of opting out of electronic messaging. Not easy if you don't have an account in the first place.

I don’t trust it’s Centrelink - nothing in my Centrelink inbox about wanting me to call them.

Got an Anonymous call which I didn't answer. Received a message off that call saying it was an Australian name (caller had an Asian accent) from Services Australia and to call back on 132300. Assumed a scam so deleted..

I spoke to a lady at Centrelink last week about connecting my Medibank to my gov! She was great and talked me through! Now this week I have been trying to report my husbands earnings and can’t access Centrelink!

Call 132300 by 28/05/2102 so we can make sure the employment income is up to date. If you don't call us your payments may stop. Do not reply by SMS. Called number sounded legit asked for CRV and pin so I hung up.

Left text msg asking to confirm my employment income. Same msg as previously reported here. I called and they wanted my number and pin number so I hung up.

Rang the number and voicemail response was that there was a longer than usual delay but to have my Centrelink customer number and pin when the phone answered. Anytime Centrelink has contacted me, it's to say there is a message in my MyGov account. This smacks of a scam.

I checked my Centrelink inbox and there was nothing about it and said I had nothing outstanding . Looks like a scam
